Giuseppe Giordan

Giuseppe Giordan (PhD in Sociology, 2002) is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Padova where he teaches both general sociology and the sociology of religion. He was visiting fellow at the University of Princeton and at the Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris where he focused on the relationship between religion, culture and politics.

As a Visiting Professor, he delivered lectures at the Renmin University of China in Beijing, Baylor University in Waco, Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, the University of Bucharest and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

He served as General Secretary of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion from 2009 to 2013. He was elected Council member in several professional associations, including the Association for the Sociology of Religion, the International Society for the Sociology of Religion, and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. From 2020 he is the national coordinator of the Italian Sociological Association – Section on the Sociology of Religion.

Since 2010, he has been founding co-Editor of the Annual Review of the Sociology of Religion published by Brill.
